Playground Committee

The goal of the Playground Committee is to ensure that our community's children have a safe, fun and creative play space in Washington Park. To accomplish this aim, the Playground Committee will:

* Strive to work with Hudson County and area municipalities to promote the improvement and maintenance of the current playground * Work with Hudson County Division of Parks and Recreation in the creation and implementation of a new playground (estimated completion - Summer 2009)

* Ensure the provision of age appropriate park design, equipment and surfaces that meet the needs of a wider range of ages currently served
* Increase supervision of the Playground by local law enforcement
* Communicate to and receive feedback from the community of playground users regarding the matters outlined above

Safety Committee
Dedicated to making the park a better place for the community through consistent outreach to local authorities as well as government agencies responsible for ensuring that laws and proper conduct are upheld. We are also committed to facilitating repairs that increase the safety of the park.

Membership Committee
The Membership Committee, working in cooperation with the Washington Park Association Board, is responsible for increasing the number of individual members and ensuring the retention of these members through actively meeting their needs.

Homeless Committee
The Homeless Outreach Committee will coordinate with governmental and non-governmental agencies to elicit and provide information of resources and, serve as a linkage mechanism between the Washington Park Association, the homeless community and the various agencies, thereby promoting greater awareness and usage of available resource for the community and the homeless.

Events Committee
The Events Committee for Washington Park Association would like to bring greater awareness to Washington Park. Events should bring arts and entertainment into the park along with activities for children to foster a sense stewardship, such as plantings. Each event should place the park at the center of our community.

Web Site Committee
Maintains and updates the WPA web site and looks to improve its functionality to benefit the members of the Washington Park Association and other users of the site.
