Big Dig

With other members of the Jersey City Parks Coalition, WPA worked in conjunction with the City of Jersey as part of National Make a Difference Day with the BIG DIG. We planted over 1,000 tulip bulbs in Washington Park's Park #4 bordered by Paterson Plank Road, Manhattan Avenue and Palisade Avenue.

In 2011, 18,000 bulbs were planted as part of the Big Dig in parks, entrances, and open spaces across Jersey City.

Washington Park LIVE! Arts & Music in The Park,

WPA again produced its yearly arts and music festival in the Gazebo area of Washington Park.  The event was an all-day affair, free and open to the public, including children and families. Audiences enjoyed the work of local artists, dancers, musicians, and fitness artists.  This was a free event!

Summer 2012

Washington Park Association's Garden Club
Volunteers came and got their hands dirty (literally) by helping to maintain our three community gardens in the 22-acre Washington Park this summer. Gloves and tools were provided and students were credited for community service hours

Fridays in August
Movies in the Park(s)
In partnership with Riverview Neighborhood Association (RNA), WPA presented free Movies in the Park(s). Family-friendly movies (rated PG or PG-13) with free popcorn rotated park locations throughout August.
