Free community events featuring local visual and performing artists, not-for-profit community partners, youth/education service agencies, and health/fitness organizations. 8th Annual Planting in the Park Program
This is WPA's annual community beautification program which prepares the park's gardens for the spring. Come help clean the gardens and plant new trees and flowers alongside your neighbors. No gardening experience necessary and all ages are welcome. Students can earn community service hours for participating.

WPA Community Meditation with Andrea Brachfeld

Meditation has been proven over and over again to promote good physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. We invite you to join Andrea's offering of various meditation techniques she herself has studied over many years, inspiring her own "I AM" sound and guided meditation.
This new program will focus on celebrating the elders of our community. They are certainly a rich resource to us, and honoring them and the stories of their lives and how they evolved with the community, can only enhance our rich, diverse neighborhood surrounding Washington Park. Our focus will be on documenting their evolving stories as they pertain to the park. Music and art activities will be intertwined into this program.
Summer Garden Maintenance Program
June 3 – August 26 Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 pm; Saturdays 10:00 am – noon
Our summer volunteer program maintains all the garden beds planted by WPA since 2008. Volunteers work through the spring and summer to care for the beds. Activities include weeding, watering, pruning, and mulching. WPA provides garden tools, soil, and mulch, and trains all volunteers in the various tasks. Meeting place for each day will be posted on WPA's Facebook page. Meetings are weather permitting. JOIN US!
